Saratoga really shines when it comes to dining options for kids and families. For brave, young eaters who like Thai, Japanese, Chinese or Indian food, you’re in luck. Downtown restaurants cater to families and groups. Southern fried chicken, Italian and classic American pub foods are also in large supply. Here are some eateries that go out of their way to be kid-friendly, plus a handful of special places, perfect for when parents need a night out on their own.
Note: This is the website owner's personal, completely biased opinion on what I like in Saratoga and I LOVE the following restaurants. I don't like 'cookie cutter dining', you know, the same menu at 100 restaurants. That's why I find the following restaurants to be extra special, they have items on their menu, that you won't find anywhere else... and it's all wonderful!
The Wishing Well Restaurant The Wishing Well has been in continuous operation since 1936. And today, as they have since 1968, owners and hosts Bob and Brenda Lee, with their sons Dean and Bob Jr., continue the tradition of outstanding cuisine and genial hospitality through their personal attention and concern with detail. Their children's menu was once voted best in the country. And while families are welcome, it's also a great spot for couples too.
Olde Bryan Inn : EXCELLENT casual dining with affordable, delicious food your whole family will enjoy. The Inn dates back to 1773! Good kids menu for those 10 and under, and the regular menu offers classic American cuisine that will appeal to kids of all ages.
Dizzy Chicken Barbecue: Dizzy Chicken is a casual eatery that's great for all ages and offers delicious options as well as a couple dinners for 4 that are budget friendly.
Chez Pierre Restaurant: Chez Pierre is French dining at its best just minutes from downtown Saratoga Springs. Chez Pierre offers a variety of hot and cold hors D'oeuvres and classic French meals, desserts, and much more. Older children will love the old-world charm of classic French cuisine, and parents will love this as a place for a romantic meal for two.
Longfellows Hotel, Restaurant & Conference Center: Classic american fare served up in four unique and charming dining rooms. Longfellows is a great place for holiday meals with the entire family. Other times, it's best suited for a family with teenage children or for a romantic getaway weekend for the parents.
The Side Room at the Inn at Saratoga: Businesses, sweethearts, family and friends enjoy the warm hospitality found at The Inn At Saratoga, known as a Saratoga Springs' jewel. The modernized Victorian inn sits on Broadway, where it has watched and participated in the last 150 years of this world-famous town's history. With 38 guest rooms and suites, a cocktail lounge overlooking Broadway, a dining room with a heart-warming fireplace, and meeting rooms,
The Boardwalk Restaurant: Great lakeside dining in Lake George, just 30 minutes north of Saratoga. An open-air deck offers amazing views and lighter fare that kids will love. Their English pub fish and chips and homemade crab cakes are popular, as well as the burgers and wings.
